Firm Overview

A “Lawyer’s Lawyer”

Sanford F. Young established his New York City law firm in March 1978 after gaining experience at a prominent Park Avenue law firm following graduation with honors in the top ten of his class at Syracuse University College of Law. He laid the foundation for his current practice by recognizing the need by his peers for the services of an unusual attorney who could bring a fresh perspective to complex and difficult cases that may overwhelm most other attorneys. The hundreds of cases he successfully tried, appealed, and settled after they were abandoned by other attorneys, who found themselves in over their heads, earned Mr. Young his reputation as a "lawyer's lawyer".

His work and successes are reported in the New York Times, New York Law Journal, and Wall Street Journal. Mr. Young is well known for his broad range of practice in complex litigation and appeals.

Firm Philosophy: Team Effort and the Bigger Picture

Mr. Young is known for a client focused approach to the practice of law creating a team effort between lawyer and client and maintaining open and consistent communications. Unlike larger impersonal firms where there may be little or no contact with the lawyer handling the case, Mr. Young works closely with each client to ensure that the client is fully informed and involved so that their best interests and concerns are addressed.

Mr. Young prides himself on tenacious investigation, research, preparation and dogged negotiation, litigation, and appellate skills. He combines honesty, integrity and dedication with personal service and focus on his client’s needs and goals.

dogOf-Counsel Services

Mr. Young is frequently called upon to provide “of-counsel” services, consulting with attorneys nationwide to review and assess strategies following an initial loss or stumbling block in a case and advises clients and their lawyers who find themselves enmeshed in legal disputes that have been dragged out, mishandled or otherwise are in need of a new strategy or experienced lawyer. Lawyers, corporate executives, entrepreneurs and individual clients often retain Mr. Young to handle, work with, or lead counsel in their pending disputes.
